Next scheduled meeting:

Friday, November 16, 7:00 - 9:00 PM

topic:  Buddha and Jesus

Presenter: Michael Betz, Ph.D.

I critique the “channeled book”Lifetimes When Jesus and Buddha Knew Each Other and connect this to A Course in Miracles. The book traces Jesus and Buddha over six lifetimes in 5 different countries over 750 years and how they awakened from the dream we call life to attain enlightenment and ascend. We’re told that both souls experienced about 40 lifetimes together but only 6 are most relevant here. Neither soul believed in the dream as much as most of us so it took fewer lifetimes to awaken and ascend. These two knew and even helped each other awaken and move through four stages or attitudes of learning we all will experience on our way back to Source/God: from a dualistic view of the world to semi-dualism, to non dualism (monism) to pure non-dualism where God is the only Reality.

This book channels two disciples- Thomas and Thaddeus- who ascended since their time with Jesus. A universal theology is impossible but a universal experience is not only possible but necessary. The experience of peace and love or fear serves as feedback to help one discern whether one is headed home toward Source or still in the dream world of the ego.

Michael Betz, PhD retired from the Dept. of Sociology in 2005 after teaching mostly at UTK since 1968. He spent one year as a visiting professor at the Univ of Missouri, Columbia, one year at Yarmouk Univ. in Jordan, and one year in Thailand at Naresuan Univ.  Learning about other cultures and traveling to experience more started during graduate school after a three-month trip to Europe in 1961.  He is well known to many of us, and previously presented a WOW program on his partnership with local refugees.
